Chestnut Tree House was thrilled to be the beneficiary of the Southern Baby Event in 2010. Fundraisers and volunteers were at Fontwell Park on the day with an information stand and fundraising games, which was a great success, but as the event goes from strength to strength, so the hospice’s involvement increases for 2011.

We have two 30min Zumba sets,

  • 2.00pm

Fantastic Beach Bateria Samba band and dancers will be playing some lively music to get us all ready to join in the Chestnut Tree House Conga!

Can we manage a World Record for the longest conga in Sussex? YES we can with YOUR HELP!!

You can also have your photo taken with a beautiful owl, courtesy of Owls-4-U, all proceeds go to Chestnut Tree House that are made in our zone. Chat with the owners of some beautiful machines as we will have a car display featuring a Ferrari, a modern Bentley and, weather permitting, a racing Caterham or two, all thanks to OF Racing Charity.

As well as having a great day out, your support will raise vital funds for Chestnut Tree House, the only children’s hospice in Sussex, which cares for children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses from all over the county.

The serious bit & what the money goes to….

Chestnut Tree House is the only children’s hospice in Sussex and cares for children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses from all over the county.

Completed in 2003, the hospice provides a ‘home from home’ environment with 10 children’s bedrooms plus 8 family rooms, a wet and dry play area, computer and music rooms, a multi sensory room and hydrotherapy pool. The house is set in beautiful gardens within an area of outstanding natural beauty.

There are potentially 400 families with life-limited children in Sussex. Chestnut Tree House offers support for the whole family including psychological support, care in bereavement therapy, end of life and respite care and sibling support.

The hospice costs over £2.5 million per year to run. Families are not charged for their care and the hospice receives very little government funding so it relies almost entirely on the generosity, help and support of the people of Sussex.
